Replas has engineered a quality product line that makes use of our soft plastic waste. They are a leading organization in sustainability and circular economy practices – and they are arriving in the Eco Educate School Membership in 2021 to help lift the standards of Climate Literacy and Sustainable Practice!
For almost 30 years, Replas has manufactured a range of over 200 recycled plastic products, aiming to provide a solution for plastic waste. They have grown to become Australia’s leading plastic product manufacturers and have since developed world leading technologies to reprocess Australia’s waste into robust, long lasting recycled plastic products (decking, benches, bollards and more!).
These products offer a sustainable alternative to the unnecessary use of virgin materials by including the most problematic waste stream, soft plastic. Through the REDcycle Program, Replas partners with companies, such as Coles and Woolworths, who have taken responsibility for the plastic waste they create. Replas’ plastic recycling leads to low maintenance products that are designed to last, is resistant to termites, microorganisms and moisture, and will never split, rot, crack or need painting.
How do we educate on soft plastic recycling in Eco Educate schools?
You might consider that the key educational take-away here would be to encourage students to recycle more of their soft plastic. While that is certainly an important action, industry experts like Replas help us to instead focus on an education that first reduces the amount of soft plastic we consume and then educates on the importance of purchasing recycled goods as part of the Pull-through Effect.
A message from Replas
“Eco Educate provides Replas with a stronger reach to schools with a national program to empower and educate students on the importance of the Circular Economy and creating a demand for recycled plastic products. Educating through a quality curriculum-aligned program that is sustainable and manageable for schools, staff, and students. Eco Educate offers real solutions and teaches practical ways to make a difference within the community and their school.
Being part of a network like Eco Educate and other industry leaders, includes Replas in a measured, long term environmental strategy that will grow and develop within schools. Eco Educate is the connecting link between manufacturing and education. Students become our future leaders and decision makers, who will be the change and create a demand for recycled plastic products – and Eco Educate is our link to making that happen.”
